- Management of the day-to-day operation of the Accounts Department, ensuring a high level of accuracy is maintained and accounts prepared to strict deadlines.
- Staff supervision; Conduct periodic staff performance appraisals.
- Transaction processing and book-keeping: sales ledger; purchase ledger; cash book (Review reconciliation at month end.); fixed asset registers (Maintain additions and disposals and calculation of depreciation); payroll processing; stock/WIP; nominal ledger (Maintenance of the nominal ledger chart of accounts.
Process all journals to the Sage accounts system including salaries and wages, stock, WIP, petty cash, fixed assets, credit card expenses, accruals, prepayments, and control accounts.
Regularly review all nominal ledger control accounts including Directors Loan Account.
Review Directors Loan Account and regularly calculate bonus to clear throughout the year.
Prepare, review and adjust sage Profit & Loss and Balance Sheets accounts each month end ready for the preparation of the Management Accounts)
- Preparation of monthly Management Accounts and Key Performance Indicators for all companies to a monthly deadline.
- Daily review of bank account balances through Business Master and authorisation of inter company bank transfers.
- Ensure cash balance is maintained within the agree overdraft limit, whilst making payments in accordance with agreed payment terms.
- Review of cash flow projections against actual cash flows.
- Lending money on the overnight money market when sufficient cash balances allow.
- Authorisation of credit card expenses, petty cash expenses, other expense claims.
- Statutory returns (quarterly VAT Returns for the Group, monthly Intrastat returns for 2 of the companies, various National Statistical returns)
